Calculated Dosages of Sudafed Children's Nasal Decongestant Liquid
The dosages listed below are for the standard preparation of Sudafed Children's Nasal Decongestant Liquid with a concentration of 15 mg/teaspoon. Other generic forms of the same medication are available but with a higher concentration of 30 mg./teaspoon. When using generic preparations, note the concentration. If you are using the stronger preparation (30 mg/teaspoon), cut the below recommended dosages in half.
This medication is for over-the-counter use without a doctor's prescription for children 4 and above. It may be used by infants and children with explicit instructions from me.
Please note:
-
Sudafed but NOT the replacement Sudafed PE remains appropriate for infants and children. Some parents report that pharmacists are telling them that this product is no longer available. This is untrue. The smaller neighborhood pharmacies will often stock it or will readily order it from their distributors. The larger chain pharmacies often down wish to bother carrying it, since it is only available behind the counter from the pharmacist by showing your state driver's license. Also, many of the larger chains only deal with one distributor to insure the best price for themselves.
