Webcast - 2nd Week of August 2026

Recall Roundup

Before we review the latest Consumer Product Safety Commission and FDA recalls, I do want to talk about the latest epidemic involving the gastrointestinal parasite cyclospora and the latest government vaccine recommendations.

We know that much of the lettuce available to Americans could be contaminated with this nasty microorganism. Cyclospora can also contaminate other fruits and vegetables grown in soil, and eating them without proper preparation can land you either in the hospital or at the very least on the toilet for weeks. So let’s answer the question…….

Can You Cook Away Cyclospora?

Vidcast:  https://www.instagram.com/p/DcBzPNQuBtV/

Cyclospora is a microscopic parasite that can cause weeks of watery diarrhea, abdominal cramping, bloating, nausea and fatigue. The good news? Heat kills it.

The FDA says food that might contain Cyclospora should be cooked so the entire food reaches at least 158 degrees Fahrenheit, or 70 degrees Celsius. At that temperature, Cyclospora cannot survive.

Washing fruits and vegetables under clean running water can help, but it does not guarantee removal of the parasite. And don’t use bleach, soap or produce sanitizers as Cyclospora is resistant to routine chemical disinfection.

For the current 2026 outbreak involving iceberg lettuce from Taylor Farms de Mexico, however, don’t try to cook or salvage recalled lettuce. Throw it away or return it.

With the Fall school season just ahead, or, in some states, already underway, it may be time for your child to have immunizations.  Recently, the federal government has made some pronouncements that require clarification.

Fact-Checking White House Vaccination Claims

Vidcast:  https://www.instagram.com/p/DcB183lherA/

The White House’s new executive order calls for major changes to childhood vaccination recommendations. During its announcement, he made several claims that don’t match the scientific evidence.

First. The White House suggests that the combined measles, mumps and rubella vaccine could be “quite lethal,” and again promotes a connection between vaccines and autism. There is no credible evidence that vaccines cause autism, and decades of evidence show the MMR vaccine is safe and effective. There is a small risk of fever-related seizures, but these are rare and have not been associated with long-term harm. And CDC says there is no evidence that separating MMR into three shots provides any medical benefit and doing so would mean more vaccinations and delays.

Second, aluminum. Small amounts of aluminum salts have been safely used as vaccine adjuvants for decades to improve the development of immunity. Extensive evidence has established that these amounts do not cause serious health problems.

Third, vaccines have enormous benefits. The CDC estimates routine childhood.

vaccination has already prevented 508 million illnesses, 32 million hospitalizations and more than 1.1 million deaths among children born from 1994 through 2023.

Fourth, the claim that children receive 72 shots by age five is a false exaggeration. The figure cited by Trump and Kennedy counts individual components in ways that don’t reflect the actual number of vaccine doses children receive. The actual number is closer to 35 doses, even including recommended vaccines such as annual flu vaccination.

Fifth, the claim that the vaccination schedule hasn’t been studied is an outright lie. It has been developed through extensive scientific review by multiple highly-credentialed and accomplished physicians and scientists.  Know too, that vaccines undergo extensive clinical testing for safety and effectiveness before approval and continuing safety monitoring afterward.

And sixth, let me repeat that scientific evidence demonstrates that vaccines do not cause autism. A 2025 WHO review of 31 primary research studies reaffirmed that there is no causal relationship between vaccines and autism. NONE!

The bottom line: vaccines are among the greatest public-health achievements in history. They are not risk-free. No medications are risk-free. But…..The evidence overwhelmingly shows that their benefits far outweigh their risks. When decisions about children’s health are made, the basis should be science, not political BS.
